Neighbors Resettles a Family of Four Refugees from Nicaragua

Working in partnership with HIAS, NFR resettled a family of four refugees from Nicaragua. They arrived (after a year in Costa Rica) in January 2025 just before the borders were shut, wearing only summer clothing and speaking minimal English.  NFR is supporting them financially by providing housing and living expenses (including winter clothing). Our volunteers are helping them access healthcare, register their daughters in school, and enroll them in ESL classes. Although here legally, their passports were stolen, so basic tasks like setting up a bank account have been a challenge. Our next big challenge is finding work for the mother and father so they can become self-sufficient. https://www.neighborsforrefugees.org/
