2024 Annual Report
Our refugee resettlement and support momentum – enabled by donors and volunteers – continued in 2024. We are very proud that more than 90% of the funds raised last year went to refugees and that we accomplished so much before the end of the year.
We are increasing our support to refugees in 2025, to help our clients meet the increased obstacles of:
-
Finding and maintaining employment in the face of a slowing economy and anti-refugee sentiment,
-
Steep cost-of-living increases,
-
Potential for legally present refugees to be deported, and
-
Elimination of travel, financial stipends, and case management support for newly arriving refugees, which was provided by the government previously.
We plan to settle at least one or two, new Afghan Special Immigrant Visa (SIV) families in our community. For the moment, Afghan SIVs is the one refugee group to which the refugee resettlement "pause" does not apply entirely.
We look forward to your continued commitment and support as we focus on increasing our support.

Through its Road to Independence Fund (Y2I), Neighbors for Refugees, a Westchester nonprofit and refugee resettlement organization, has helped more than 300 Westchester refugees, SIV's, asylum seekers, and refugees in the New York TriState areas.
These families have escaped violence and persecution to live in a safer and more secure environment. Our programs have given New York Refugees, and our neighbors, the tools and networks needed to move from surviving to thriving. We are truly about building a better life together.
I urge you to celebrate the extraordinary courage and contributions of refugees past and present.
