You're Invited To
A Celebrate & Recommitment Gala

About the Event
Since 2016, Neighbors’ volunteers and donors have helped resettle approximately 100 refugee families and hundreds more through financial grants for rent, food, legal and government fees, English courses and the like – indeed a lot to celebrate!
But we can’t just celebrate our first decade of service. In the face of aggressive, anti-refugee government actions, we are recommitting to defend our clients’ rights to build new lives as our neighbors. Neighbors continues to help our refugee neighbors defend their rights to be here and to provide financial support for rent, food and other essential resources so they can thrive in their new home. With virtually no refugees admitted to the U.S. since January 2025, we are helping our clients manage and pay for immigration attorney representation, address job losses, mitigate the loss of health insurance, and help with rent and food insecurity. We are also assisting families who have been stuck in the system move from homeless shelters or detention in NYC and elsewhere into apartments where they can start their new lives.

Please join us to celebrate a decade of helping others.

Our Honorees
St. John's Episcopal Church, Larchmont
St. John’s Church was chosen as one of our 2026 Honorees because of its steadfast commitment to helping refugees and asylees. The Church and its members have supported Neighbors since its founding in 2016, providing several past and current board members, including its first two presidents.
St. John’s has hosted numerous meetings, a furniture drive, the collection of medical supplies and two clothing drives, a Muslim wedding, and a live performance of “In Her Words” (a story of refugee women). Church members have supported a multiple family group (13 individuals) from Afghanistan and continue to support them today. Other volunteers have served on several family teams, taught ESL, delivered furniture, and more.
St. John’s designated Neighbors for Refugees to receive its annual “Easter Appeal” in 2023 (and has also designated the Community Resource Center for several appeals to assist asylum seekers). The Church’s Episcopal Church Women organization and Outreach Committee have awarded grants to Neighbors to support our programs in each of the last five years.
Please join us in thanking St. John’s for their tireless support.
Our Volunteers And Donors
Neighbors could not exist without the support of its volunteers and donors. We honor them! The compassion and efforts of over 100 volunteers have enabled us to help to resettle our families by welcoming them, getting the children in school, acclimating them to their communities, teaching them ESL, setting up apartments, arranging medical care, facilitating attorney representation, and so much more. This is in addition to assessing the needs of other refugees and the awarding of financial grants to hundreds of other refugees for short-term support or specific requests.
Nearly 1,200 donors have provided us with the funds necessary to do our work. The number of donors has nearly tripled since 2017, and our current donors have been with us for four years on average. Since 2017, donations have increased nearly ten-fold. In addition to monetary donations, hundreds have donated furniture, household items, fulfilled Amazon wish lists, and school supplies.

Please join us in thanking all our volunteers and donors.
