World Refugee Day 2020
Neighbors for Refugees World Refugee Day Storytelling Event
Find Your Way Home
World Refugee Day
Storytelling Night
Every refugee who has made it to the United States has a story about the home they left behind or the place they now call home.
To celebrate World Refugee Day this year, we're going to hear some of these stories that explore the theme "Find Your Way Home." We will be featuring stories from our community that revolve around the topic of immigration or being a refugee - this includes volunteers, refugees, asylees, as well as poets, storytellers, and singer-songwriters. They will share their personal refugee and immigrant stories through a personally chosen form of performance art. The theme of the event is "Find Your Way Home."
We currently have 11 readings planned. They include personal essays, poems, videos, and a special song inspired by our theme. We will laugh. We will cry. We will do this together.
NFR will also give an update on where we are and the work we have been doing during the COVID-19 pandemic on behalf of refugees.
There is no cost to attend this event, but people can make a donation to fund the work of NFR at www.neighborsforrefugees.org.
